Our clients are visited regularly by our sales representatives. It is at these points of contact that they carry out consultant surveys ie ask questions and give updates regarding requirements, needs, buying trends, product updates, problem areas.
Direct posting mail shots are sent out periodically with special offers and product updates.
E mail e letters are sent out on a monthly basis to inform the client of company news
We advertise in the Medical Chronicle which has a wide circulation of 13000 private practice GPs, specialists and key hospital personnel. MC is the only journal that goes to GPs and specialists on a monthly basis.

Results:

We have achieved a constant growth. Our focus is still within the Private Sector supplying equipment to the three main groups namely Netcare, Lifehealthcare and Mediclinic as well as those privately owned hospitals that do not form part of one of the major groups. We have achieved an increase in business from the public sector as we are adopting a more aggressive marketing strategy there. We employ black, female and handicapped people and so conform to a broad based business model (Level 2 BEE achieved).

Forecast

Public:

Although South Africa only sits at the lower end of the top 50 medical device markets internationally we expect this to change for the better for a number of reasons:
South Africa has the fastest HIV Aids infection rate in the world and so the government is constantly seeking to improve and rebuild healthcare services. The National Health Bill which was unveiled in 2001 seeks to create a strong centralized healthcare system which would make primary healthcare more accessible. There are now a total of 49 health regions and 180 health districts throughout the country. The new system thus extends health planning to a grassroots level. Nothing like this existed prior to 1994. There is also increased pressure on the government to increase its health expenditure as many hospital services are becoming increasingly inefficient.

Private:

Private health  spending far oustrips public expenditure usually by as much as 5 times and we expect this to continue. Netcare, Mediclinic, Lifehealthcare and Independents’ mission to present a first world healthcare environment by 2010 (Soccer World Cup to be held in SA) is fuelling the need for better, more advanced equipment.
